VIRECHANA AYURVEDIC COLON PURGE

Virechana is one of the five Panchakarma actions within the classical Ayurvedic methodology of cleansing the body. The Virechana practice consists of the administration of a purgative substance for the cleansing of the lower bowels. For our purposes, during the 7-day detox program, we will be practising Virechana with food-grade castor oil.
Castor oil usage dates back to the time of the Ancient Greeks and is a common home remedy for constipation. Ingesting castor oil stimulates the walls of the large and small intestines, which helps promote the movement of the impacted stool out of the colon.
This is a powerful cleanse and leaves the body light and clear. The Virechana purge is also how we enter into the fasting days, already light, making the entire fast far easier and more enjoyable.
