    Oatmeal shmoatmeal, no more! Sorry about the steam Oatmeal shmoatmeal, no more! Sorry about the steamy video but I love my oats and wanted to share some oatmeal porridge top tips:

🥣Favour the water! Use tea bags or spices (star anise, cloves etc) or both. For tea I love rooibos, earl grey, chamomile among others

🥣Add lots of good fat! This helps to make oatmeal even more satiating and of course great for the lining of the colon and brain. Substitute ghee for coconut oil if you prefer. 

🥣Desiccated coconut adds important insoluble fibre! Go heavy handed here. Also makes better texture.

🥣Stewing the raisins in the water before adding the oats helps to sweeten the water and makes the porridge plenty sweet.

🥣SALT- honestly, this is how to make oatmeal delicious. 

🥣Coarse oats (also called steel cut, pinhead or groats)vs flat oats. This is a personal preference but I think it creates a less mushy porridge
It does take much longer to cook but so worth it..

🥣And finally.. not shown in the video, let it cool to just above room temperature before eating, this allows the porridge to solidify slightly, making a more cakey-pudding, less mushy slop. 

Ayurveda classifies oatmeal as tri-doshic meaning good for all doshas. Oats, like all grains, nuts, beans and seeds contain phytic acid which can make them difficult to break down for people with weaker digestive systems. This can be alleviated by soaking the oats overnight, rinsing them and using them the next day. 😘

    Culinary herbs make more than just great salsa, th Culinary herbs make more than just great salsa, they make bright, fresh, clean and enlivening tea too. 

Parsley tea is especially lovely with a touch of sea salt. I often put a slice of raw garlic in my parsley tea which is surprisingly nice. And fresh basil tea with honey, oh my! Coriander also makes great tea and like chlorella, is used for heavy metal chelation, although unlikely in such small quantities but still a gift to the body.

Parsley tea is an especially wonderful tonic for an overly acidic body, like after holiday eating 😜Parsely's ability to alkalise is partly due to its mineral salt content, which I like to ramp up even more with a pinch of salt (tastes better too).
